23. Continuation of restoration of sandy soils 2020
The work on the sandy ground, thanks to the results obtained, has been expanded with a second construction site leading to the realization of a further vast intervention in the neighboring areas.
The results obtained from the reconstitution of sandy soils have been of considerable importance obtaining the improvement of the following properties:
- Soil aggregation: from the absence of structure of the sandy soils has been realized an aggregation of the particles with a medium degree of stability
- Water retention: increased field capacity and reduced drying point with improved storm water retention and irrigation capacity
- Leaching waters: reduction of percolation water with less loss of soluble nutrients and increased environmental protection conditions of soils
- Thermal stability: soils undergo a lower seasonal and daily thermal fluctuation improving the biological, enzymatic and chemical conditions of the soils
- Reaction: the pH of the soils, previously average alkaline, has been reduced, with a consequent better availability of nutrients
- Salinity: decrease in the salinity of soils, originally the soils had limited areas with high salinity
- Total limestone: gradual reduction of the high amount of total and active limestone present with the reduction of phosphorus retrogradation phenomena and reduction of iron availability
- Cation exchange capacity: strong increase in the exchange capacity with a consequent increase in nutrient retention and increase in the protective capacity of soils
- Phosphorus available: increase in the amount of phosphorus available and the chemical conditions in the soil adapted to its availability
- Organic substance ? Organic carbon: strong increase in organic carbon and reduction of its mineralization (loss) potential, strong increase in biological activity
- Humic fractions: increase in the supply of humic and fulvic acids and improvement of humidification parameters
- C/N ratio: the ratio of carbon to nitrogen has increased favourably in the humidification and preservation processes of organic matter
- Mg/K ratio: the concentration of Magnesium and Potassium has been improved to optimal values
- Fe/Mn ratio: the two trace elements Ferro and Manganese have been reported in the ideal equipment.
