20. Agrised EU funding 2018 – 2019
In 2020, Ecosistemi participated together with the University of Florence (Faculty of Agriculture), the Company Gorini Plants and EPS Biotechnology in a project, funded by the European Union on the initiative of the company AGROVIVAI srl. (Leader). The LIFE AGRISED project focused on the study of the suitability of dredged sediments from the Navicelli Canal (Pisa ? Livorno) for the production – through the reconstitution and/or co-composting with ? plant waste of technosols, which can be used for the reclamation of disused land and areas or as an innovative cultivation base for nurseries.
The participation of Ecosistemi focused on chemical analysis and experimental application of reconstitution technology in soil lysimeter tests.
The AGRISED funding has allowed the company to equip itself with a prototype, designed by Ecosistemi, bench-top reconstitution plant and soil lysimeters. The prototype was used to perform several reconstitution tests with the matrices to be studied; in this way different treatment methods and lines have been designed. The lysimeters equipped with specific probes for the detection of temperature, humidity and conductivity of the soil have returned very important monitoring data that have allowed studies on leachate.
Ecosistemi the project has achieved the following objectives:
1. Application of the reconstitution process in the qualitative improvement of dredged sediments.
2. Application of the reconstitution process in the treatment of products originating from co-composting.
3. Assessment of dredged sediments (dredging sludges) for their use as pedomaterials in the reconstitution of degraded soils.
4. Identification of the use of the dredging sludge of the Navicelli Canal for the restoration of the agricultural layer in degraded and entisolized sites.
The reconstituted soils produced by the pilot reconstitutor were also used in the nursery greenhouses of Pistoia, verifying the growths on different ornamental plant species. The use of sediments reconstituted by our technology has given important results on the growth and floridity of the plants grown in the substrates produced. On 9 February 2022 as part of the project Ecosistemi organized a technical course aimed mainly at agronomists during which he exposed the studies carried out.
