17. Experimentation Vicolungo Novara 2017

Towards the end of the NEW LIFE project, an important collaboration began with the University of Turin (Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences) for the production of reconstituted soils for the restoration of a waterproofed area derived from the deposit of road construction materials.
In this work of particular value, following the invaluable advice of Dr. A. Fabio Meloni (University of Turin), was addressed another aspect for the development of reconstitution technology: the production of specific soils with a certain texture.

Following several investigations and tests, the design and subsequent production of the specific reconstituted soils was followed by research conducted by the Department of the University of Turin and by Ecosistemi on the evolution of the soil from the pedological and chemical-physical point of view and vegetative studies to evaluate the responses of planted tree and shrub species.

The work carried out has demonstrated its effectiveness in supporting forest restoration by allowing the conversion from a soil to Class VIII of Capacity of Use (Soils unsuitable for any type of agricultural and forestry use) to Class II (soils with moderate limitations).
The works have made a significant contribution to the methodologies for the restoration of degraded planitial areas.
