
6. General properties
Reconstitution improves the ability of soils to irrigate by reducing water consumption. The interventions on agricultural soils operated by our pedotechnics allow:
- Increased depth of soil: a greater thickness of soil allows a greater amount of water available to crops;
- The conformation of a structure is granular porous ? lumpy: this type of structure allows, under the same weaving conditions, the best porosity and therefore the appropriate permeability to water and air, the most suitable radical development; the greater stability of structure, obtained from the reconstitution allows a more suitable attitude especially for sprinkler irrigation systems;
- The largest available water: reconstituted soils have a higher water retention capacity with ideal moisture conditions: water retention capacity, drying point, percolation water.
The function of a soil in filtering and transforming pollutants is called the ability to protect against pollution.
Reconstituted soils derived from the treatment of natural soils increase the properties that lead to an increase in the protective capacity of the soils as the reconstitution involves the improvement of the following functional aspects:
- Increased water retention capacity
- Reduction of percolation water ? leaching
- Increased soil depth and root development
- Increased rhizospheric activity
- Increased cation exchange capacity
- Adsorption of ammonium ion
- Increased microbial and enzymatic activity
- Increase in the stable fraction of organic matter (Humic acids ? fulvic and umine)
- Increased stability of aggregates.
