Conference "Post-flood agriculture" organized by APIMAI (Provincial Association of Industrial Agricultural Machining Companies) and the National Union of Industrial Agromechanical Counterfeiters.
The conference presented the results of the analytical surveys and studies carried out on samples taken in different areas affected by the flood in Romagna; the conference was attended by Prof. Gilmo Vanello (Vice-President of the National Academy of Agriculture) who illustrated the research he carried out on the permeability of the soils affected by the sediment cover together with Dr. Giovanni Bocchini, President of the National Academy of Agriculture. Paolo Manfredi (President of Ecosistemi) which exposed the changed chemical properties of the soils of the areas affected by the disastrous event of May 2023.

From the surveys carried out in the flooded areas of the Romagna lands caused by flooding and overflowing of the Lamone and Savio streams, most of the turbid sediments have a predominant limousine texture with a high carbonate content.
The deposits in the affected areas vary in thickness from 15 to over 30 cm, especially in morphologically depressed areas.
These sediments, in the dry state, create a crumbly surface crust in polygonal forms as the external temperature increases; in the wet state they form a sludge with very limited drainage capacity resulting in substantial water stagnation during heavy rains and in the case of irrigation.
The serious damage to agriculture in these areas is due to the distortion of the nature of the land both in terms of physical fertility: poor water permeability, surface water stagnation, high crust formations, soil processing difficulties, alteration of soil structure and major irrigation difficulties; and under that of chemical fertility: strong increase in total and active limestone, strong reduction in the available phosphorus supply and further unavailability.
These aspects, and others, can hardly be solved without the intervention of pedotechnic works aimed at accelerating the formation of a fertile soil by acting on the aspects of soil aggregation through specific contributions of organic substance and new formation of stable aggregates of soil.
The conditions illustrated by the studies and interpretations of the Vice President of the National Academy of Agriculture Prof. Gilmo Vanello have configured the seriousness of the situation from a pedological and agronomic point of view, while, in the joint intervention of Dr. Gianluca, the President of the National Academy of Agriculture, Prof. Gilmo Vanello, has defined the seriousness of the situation from a pedological and agronomic point of view. Manfredi has been exposed to the intervention approach in order to carry out the restoration of fertility.
